My Background and Training

My Professional Background and Experience:

I am an Attachment Based Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist, supervisor, former Vice Chair of the Bowlby Centre psychotherapy training and referrals organisation, psychotherapy tutor and writer. I have been working with clients in psychotherapy for 11 years.

I completed a UKCP Accredited training in Attachment Based Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy with The Bowlby Centre, a UKCP accredited Attachment Based Psychotherapy  Training and referrals organisation in Islington, London – www.thebowlbycentre.org.uk

I attended 3 years of training in Integrative Psychotherapy in London at The Minster Centre in North London.

20 years experience of the psychotherapy world

I have been involved in the world pf Psychotherapy for more than 20 years, having trained whilst I was working with the Citizens Advice Bureau as an advisor, staff trainer, and manager, and have experience of Attachment based Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy training; Psychodrama; Art Therapy; Group Therapy; Gestalt therapy; Transactional Analysis; Psychoanalysis; Humanistic Psychology; Person-Centred therapy; Transpersonal Psychology; and Rebirthing, amongst others.

I have been providing Attachment Based Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy in Wimbledon, Putney and Barnes, since 2003. I work for shorter periods of time and for longer, as required – usually longer as psychotherapy is not a ‘quick fix’.

Although my work is usually face-to-face, I  will consider working via telephone where relevant, if for example, you spend periods of time abroad or have a disability.

I have taught psychotherapy courses (The Adolescence Seminar in the Life Cycle Module, 2009 – 2011 and Object Relations 2011 onwards) for Psychotherapy trainees at the Bowlby Centre

I am a former Course Tutor, and the Vice Chair of the The Bowlby Centre which is the Attachment Based Psychoanalytic Training and referrals organisation where I undertook the majority of my training – www.thebowlbycentre.org.uk

Although my current interests are largely in psychotherapy, I graduated with honours from the University of Cambridge in 1987 (Archaeology and Anthropology and Social and Political Sciences) www.cam.ac.uk prior to this, I studied Psychology and Sociology for 2 years at a Residential College in North Wales, graduating with the University of Wales Diploma in General Studies (1984).

I undergo Continuing Professional Development and am UKCP ( www.psychotherapy.org.uk) Registered and, as with all psychoanalytic psychotherapists, I receive regular supervision (as required for UKCP Registration and membership).
